CRIMINAL LAW:  From 1980 - 2005 my practice was 90% criminal defense.  I have experience in all levels and types of criminal cases and appeals including homicides, assaults and the broad range of "domestic violence" crimes, forgery, fraud crimes, thefts, criminal mischief, DUIs, drug crimes, sex offenses, weapons offenses, state fish and game offenses, probation revocations as well as parole revocation, sentence modification, and all forms of driving offenses. 

 

 

CIVIL LAW:  From 1975-1989 and 1987-88 I primarily handled a broad range of civil matters.  While my practice concentrates on Criminal Law I handle a limited number of civil matters including simple wills, child in need of aid cases, divorce, landlord tenant issues.

 

AREAS OF CURRENT INTEREST:  Criminal procedure, search and seizure and constitutional issues, complex felony sentencings including the constitutionality of Alaska sentencing laws after Blakely v Washington and constitutional issues relating to the confrontation clause after Crawford v. Washington.
